‘Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself’ is a famous
saying by Arthur Conan Doyle. Mediocrity is a state of been average. It is the
quality of something that is not very good. To be mediocre is to be ordinary,
nothing more added.
Living a mediocre life is highly dependent on your choices,
you giving up on the best and settled for what you got.
Things you should know about Mediocre People
·
They are scared to think big.
·
They do what society expects of them and rarely
ever pursue things on their own.
·
They listen to the majority. Majority of people
are average people, average people are mediocre; if you listen to them when
making decisions you are most likely following the part of mediocrity
·
Their free time is spent watching television and
just lazing around.
·
They have the same routine both at work and
home. They live the same monotonous life every day. They work a 9 to 5 job,
saving enough money to be able to fall back on when they retire.
·
Are afraid of change and will do anything to
maintain the status quo.
Living Above being Mediocre
·
Be willing to
get out of your comfort zone and try new things. If you keep an open mind, you
will find yourself in the middle of many more opportunities as well.
·
Think big, set
goals and make efforts to achieve them.
·
Look out for
those who are different from every other person around you. Have role models,
mentors and advisers.
·
Instead of
spending your free time watching television, spend that time doing something
that will help you tomorrow. Whether it’s running a side business or simply
reading to gain knowledge, do something productive.
·
Take the
road less travelled or the one that nobody has travelled.
·
Be ready to
take risk. Those who are not mediocre take on risk. To avoid mediocrity, you
cannot be fearful of the risks that come with it. Always weigh the risk factor
into every decision, but be open to taking risks.
It is comforting to go with the
flow, to be part of many and not feel stupid, just fitting in. A lot of people
live life just living ‘alright’, they are not uncomfortable and not doing great
either. It is not a great place to be. Mediocrity is a horrible insidious trap,
get away from it.
